KMC elections by Dec 7, hints CM Suvendu; announces 1100 crores fund for corporation
Former influential political leader Sabyasachi Dutta has come under investigation after police reportedly recovered several important documents, including records related to gold purchases worth approximately ₹76 crore, during a search of his residence in Rajarhat. The recovery was made as investigators continued probing allegations against Dutta and examining documents linked to his financial dealings and assets.
On Sunday, officers from Bidhannagar North Police Station took Dutta to his ward office and a local club as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities reportedly recovered materials from both locations before escorting him to his apartment in a luxury residential complex in Rajarhat. Investigators then conducted an extensive search operation and questioned him for a prolonged period.
During the search, police allegedly found receipts and other documents connected to the purchase of gold worth around ₹76 crore. Investigators are now examining the source of funds used for the transactions and reviewing the assets and financial records linked to the case. The probe follows a complaint filed by a businessman from Salt Lake, who accused Dutta of extortion, criminal intimidation, threats and repeated demands for money on multiple occasions.
